About us, PetCoverHQ
PetCoverHQ was created to solve a simple problem: pet insurance and pet care information online is either overly promotional (written by companies trying to sell you their own policy) or scattered across forums with no clear standards. We wanted a single place where pet owners could get straightforward, well-researched comparisons and practical care advice, without the sales pitch.
We cover three main areas: pet insurance reviews and comparisons, breed and life-stage specific care guides, and honest product reviews for the gear and tech that make pet ownership easier.
Our Review Process
Here’s exactly how we research and write our content:
Pet insurance reviews and comparisons. We start with each provider’s official policy documents, sample contracts, and state-specific terms — not just their marketing pages. We compare pricing across multiple pet profiles (different breeds, ages, and locations) to show real-world cost differences, not just advertised “starting at” prices. We pay particular attention to exclusions, waiting periods, and reimbursement models, since this is where providers differ the most and where marketing pages tend to be vague.
Product reviews. We evaluate products based on published specifications, verified customer feedback across multiple platforms, and, where possible, direct testing. When we haven’t personally tested a product, we say so clearly in the review.
Care guides. Our care and health content is based on established veterinary guidance, reputable animal health organizations, and peer-reviewed sources. We link to our sources where relevant so you can verify the information yourself.
Transparency About Our Team
PetCoverHQ is currently run by a small, independent team rather than a large veterinary staff. We’re not veterinarians, and nothing on this site should be taken as a substitute for professional veterinary advice — always consult your vet for decisions about your pet’s health. Where a topic requires professional medical judgment, we say so explicitly and point you toward a vet rather than guessing.
We’re actively working to bring in veterinary and insurance-industry professionals to review key content going forward, and we’ll update this page as that happens.
How We Make Money
PetCoverHQ earns revenue through affiliate commissions and advertising. This never affects our rankings or recommendations — full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
